I was cautious about painting figures during my college years. Most of the paintings were of ruins or mummy heads. Slowly, emerging in the years after 1995, I took up the figure, often taken from newspaper photographs or books. Often I had no interest in the subject; it was simply that the image resonated with me. Hence the lack of specificity in the titles.
